The PHILLIPS Mission:

Our schools and programs serve individuals with behavioral health needs and developmental disabilities and their families through education, family support services, community education, and advocacy. We do this through a solid commitment to our educational philosophy, which believes each child we serve is unique, as is the combination of services we provide. Depending on your child’s and family’s needs, as well as input from educators, agencies, or other involved parties, we offer:

SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY SCHOOLS:

Serving students from elementary through high school in nationally acclaimed day schools in Annandale, Leesburg, and Fairfax, VA, and Laurel, MD. Our schools focus on social skills training, counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, career and technical education, and authentic job opportunities in the community.

PHILLIPS ~ BUILDING FUTURES PROGRAM:

PHILLIPS’ Building Futures program offers student-centered teaching and learning for ages 16-21 (grades 9 - 12), emphasizing student success through career and technical preparation, family support services, and developing the work habits and social skills needed for a successful transition to postsecondary employment.

What Makes PHILLIPS Programs Different from Other Individualized Education Schools?

Seven pillars guide all we offer at PHILLIPS. These core beliefs are infused at all steps of your child’s educational experience and how we design behavioral programs that fit your family’s needs. These principles also guide how educators and staff interact with one another in creating meaningful change every day.

  • Integrity: We do what we say we will do. We tell the truth. We act thoughtfully based on the child’s or family’s interest.

  • Compassion: We welcome and accept others. We empathize with others. We listen to and respect others.

  • Commitment: We aim to be the best. We persevere against the odds. We do what it takes to help each other cross the finish line and encounter success.

  • Safety: We are vigilant in promoting physical and emotional safety for all. We help people feel secure in our environment by listening to their concerns. We are responsible for preventing and correcting safety issues.

  • Individualization: We respect the perspective of the child and family. We highlight strengths and embrace the potential in each child. We create individualized education and behavioral programs to fit the needs of both child and family.

  • Effectiveness: We embrace continuous quality improvement. We learn from our mistakes as well as our successes. We make changes based on objective data and listening to feedback.

  • Community: We include each other in decision-making and problem-solving. We support and are accountable to each other. We believe in the importance of having fun together!
